Re: The story of a 1962/63 Rogers black onyx

Ditto on that. Nice interview and nice drum. I don’t have history on anything I have. Very special.

Re: What are the tonal differences between Ludwig & Rogers?

Your choice of heads is a vital component of the sound, but otherwise the Ludwigs will have a lower pitch with less sustain and the Rogers the opposite. Both are valid for recording, and my limited...

Re: What are the tonal differences between Ludwig & Rogers?

My ear generally hears a sharper tone from the Rogers than from the Ludwig. As to value, we'd have to know exactly what kits you are looking at, but normally a 60's kit would carry a higher value....

Club Date Sound

I happened upon this clip the other day and was pleasantly surprised how nice a sound was coming from the Ludwig Club Date drums. I always liked Gary Peterson's recorded sound, but in this particular...

Rogers Entry Level at a Great Price

Only $50 to ship! Great Londoner set with a PowerTone to boot (different color, but hey....). What a way to enter the Rogers vintage club. Once again, too bad I don't need a set.

Re: Danelli Snare

[QUOTE=DrumBob;474400]I can verify, that drum is the one Dino used in the early days of The Rascals, in fact, he had a complete red sparkle kit, given to him by Cozy Cole. I held that snare in my own...

Danelli Snare

I've always thought Dino Danelli was one of the best drummers of the era. Seems a bit expensive for a snare drum in so, so condition. It does make me wonder what Cornish's guitar might go for. Good...

Re: Estate planning

If I precede my wife, I’m guessing she’ll sell the drums with the farm. My younger son might want a set as he played for a very brief period of time. Maybe my granddaughter too. They were for my...

Re: When is a drum considered Vintage?

Merriam Webster defines vintage, in part, by these words:

"..of old, recognized, and enduring interest, importance, or quality : CLASSIC"

If I recall correctly, this began to be a phenomenon in...

Re: Opinions: Walopus Mardi Gras Wrap

I would love to find a really nice reproduction of Mardi Gras. Steve Maxwell had some made up but is exclusive to his Gretsch and DW lines.

Re: Rogers Black Onyx Drums

It's a darn good thing it's 2107 miles and 33 hrs away or I'd probably find myself buying it. Citadels from '68 in onyx finishes are top shelf for me.
Even if they were willing to wait a few months...

Re: Mike Layton killed in motorcycle accident

Thanks guys. It came to me a short time later. Short term memory is not what it once was. I wasn't acquainted with Mike, but probably read many of his posts and responses. Again, too sad.

Re: Rogers Dayton-Era Holiday Kit

Very nice and right price! Kind of cool that it has a small tom layout in the Pretty Purdie arrangement with larger tom ahead of smaller tom. As said above, should move quickly.

Not Vintage but Vintage

Rogers is now offering a new 20, 12, 14 setup. Might have been out there for a while, but this is the first one I've seen.

Re: Vintage Drum Market

Mark,

Kindly expand a bit on your experience with shipping via PayStation. I have a couple of kits to sell, but I hate quoting on the shipping. A couple of years ago, I might say, $125 East Coast,...

Too Bad Not to Need Another Kit

This kit popped up on Reverb this morning not too far from me in Natick, MA. My son probably could have swung by this week to get it and hold it for me. It would not be too far off course on his way...
