Re: Is this a Ludwig Pioneer?

Yep. Marty speaks the truth. I've seen many a pointy B/O badge that has been bent, "torn" or removed altogether -usually along with the grommet. The dang things could really stab a guy if he wasn't...

Re: Is this a Ludwig Pioneer?

Marty I think you're right on second inspection. If it's 8 lugs then it's a JazzFest.

Re: Is this a Ludwig Pioneer?

Definitely is a Pioneer... circa late 1968 to early 70's. Too bad about the missing badge. Pioneers usually sound great.

EDIT: See subsequent posts below....This drum may be a JazzFest if it is...

Re: When is a drum considered Vintage?

I think it has to do with things that aren't made anymore....or aren't made in the same "old" way....at least when it comes to drums. And for this reason, drums that were made in America from...

Re: When is a drum considered Vintage?

It's a somewhat ambiguous term when it comes down to it. Generally, anything from 1980 or under, is the vintage category for drums....and the 80's is kinda pushing it for American-made drums.

Re: Estate planning

Price my stuff so high that only people with a ton of money can afford it. If it sells, then it's likely going somewhere under good care. If no one wants it, then build it all into a bonfire and take...

Re: Mounting system for vintage 14" Ludwig tom

Ludwig sells a new lug/mount combo that's supposed to be pretty cool. I'll see if I can dig up a pic or video link in a subsequent post...It doesn't require any permanent modifications....simply...

The only thing I really need to find is the one, unknown Billy Gladstone snare drum, in perfect shape...

...and the money to buy it!

No more kits, though....

...unless Carl Palmer's...

Re: The worst thing that happened to vintage drums

I also wish that people wouldn't take a perfectly good kit and disassemble it for parts. But, on the other hand, not everyone cares about drums. Sometimes, people who find a set at a garage sale or...

Re: Vintage Drum Market

This.

I know that collecting vintage drums can be a business for some people, but for most people, it's a hobby....or a game to have fun with. So "fair market value" and concepts like that don't...

Re: Is car wax safe for wrap finishes?

I have used this stuff called Nu-Finish (orange bottle). It's made to be used on cars like a wax, but it's some kind of micro-encapsulated silicone something-or-other. I had it, so I used it...not...

Re: Best Chrome Polish in the Universe!

I got some kind of three-step stuff...McGuire's or something like that, in a free pile at a yard sale several years ago. It's supposed to removed light scratches and then a final polish step....I...

Yeah, I shouldn't even care one way or the other, I guess. Your first post on this thread did indicate that you are interested in buying it and that was all the details you gave, so the implication...

Re: Rogers Drums

Fair enough. I don't know enough or care about Premier stuff. It was a guess as to why it might have sold quickly. But if it was just luck, as you suggest, then luck counts, too. Maybe the planets...

Re: Rogers Drums

It just irks me that you can't finish this deal when the guy is almost laying down for you. $450 dollars is a very good price for that kit. And, I think I'd tend to agree with the theory they were...

Looks like whoever removed the interior paint did a good job of it....although I don't know why anyone would want to do that...*shrugs*
