Re: What make someone do this?

Back in the day, many drummers ditched the resos and painted the interiors black as they would then been seen more since the heads were gone. I've restored a few 60's 14x14 that were painted inside...

Re: Ludwig Black Galaxy Sparkle kit, factory or pieced together?

I have the same kit and sizes. It is all legit. Would love to see some pictures. It is called a Ludwig Club Date Combo kit. The early 60's models of those were cataloged with a matching Jazz Festival...

Re: Anybody Have Experience With Drugan's Drums?

Have dealt with the Drugans many times. Great guys. They put a lot of time and effort into finding great gear.

Re: Info on this Pearl kit?

This is an earlier Pearl set...pre 68 at least.....desirable wrap....desirable sizes. Would like to know what the snare is. There are MIJ collectors that would really be interested in this set. I...

Re: Early 60s Ludwig Kick in a dumpster!

I can't tell by the pics if that one hole is a disappearing cymbal mount or not. Some of the early pre serial classic bass drums did use those. My pre serial New Yorker 12x22 has one. And like Thin...

Re: Chicago Drum Show 2022

I'll be back this year selling vintage cymbals. Don't recall the booth number at this time.

Re: Ludwig Combo Vistalite?

They are in the 1980 Ludwig catalog. Mine are 22/12/13/16. There were also some wood shelled Combos too.

Re: Ludwig Combo Vistalite?

Haven't seen too many with the clear shell. Have seen blues and reds in the past. Here is my set of blue Vistalite Combos. They came from the factory with plastic lugs. I play mine and switched to...

Re: One word: "Plastics"

I've got a Ludwig Vistalite Combo set and a Ludwig Educator set. Both of these were very late 70's and have plastic lugs. I play them, so I replaced them with conventional lugs...same hole...

Re: Marching Head on Regular Snare Drum?

I've got a couple of 60's Ludwig parade batter heads that I use on snares and floor toms. Sounds nice.

Re: Downbeat vs clubdate

I actually find the opposite in sounds. I much prefer the resonance in my Club Date kits vs. my Down Beat kits. Especially in the 14" floor toms as the CDs have 6 lug and the DBs have eight. Lets...

Re: Canister

Great drums but that is a little strong in my opinion. Club Date floor toms often bring a premium. And then you have to worry about getting the right wrap fade.

Re: Ludwig Dual Strainer Snare Drum Help?

The p83 that is shown is much older than the drum. Should have had the same bolt pattern though. Wonder what the extra hole was for at the bottom strainer?
