Re: 1925- LEEDY 5 x 15 NOB MULTI-MODEL *MARVEL MODEL

It looks a lot less fussy to tweak than the Dynasonic.

Re: elvin gretsch, first 16 bass drum in history?

Is that drummer the same guy who also told us that the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about?

Re: Drum Brand Preferences

Romulus, I think that you are full of crap. Your foolish assumptions might be more correct after all of us drummers born before 1980 have died off. The word "pearl" was a very widely used descriptive...

Re: Drum Brand Preferences

I think the thought you're trying to convey is that you could NOT care less about where Pearl is manufactured. I have several turn-offs for that brand. At the top of the list is that manufacturer's...

Re: Can anyone provide any info on this kit?

As i mentioned earlier, if you ordered enough stencil sets from Pearl that you wanted to badge as Leroy, chances are that no one on this forum would know about that "brand" of drums unless he or she...

Re: Drum Brand Preferences

I suppose that we can have completely opposite opinions about Pearl drums and still remain friendly.

Re: Drum Brand Preferences

Some of us have an aversion to Asian-made drums. Despite the very good quality of upper end Yamaha, Tama, and Pearl drums, I just can't get my mind to accept them as drums I want to own. It took me a...

Drum Brand Preferences

This is sort of on topic for vintage drums. One of the reasons that I don't like a certain brand of American-made drums is that seemingly every other drummer that I knew when I was young wanted or...

Re: Glue or Reattach Inlay Strips?

There are thousands of inlay strips that were nailed or stapled that have cracked or split at the places where the brads or staples pierced the plastic strip. There seems to be no ideal way to...

Re: Glue or Reattach Inlay Strips?

Two-sided tape in a few spots in the inlay strip channel and at the overlap final inch should firmly attach the inlay strip without inflicting any damage to it as happens with brads or staples.

Re: Fantastic Luck!!!

Given my aversion to stripped and clear-coated drum shells, I would want to see it before offering any opinion.

Re: Leedy Shelly Manne snare drum info please

My 1963 Shelly Manne Leedy set is my forever drum set. If I ever sell off all of my drums except for one set, this is the one that I will keep forever. The drums measure 14x20, 16x16, 9x13, and 5x14...

Re: Woody Orphans

Gotta love bastardized orphan drums. 7x11 Leedy--probably pre-World War Two, 16x12 converted 1950s Leedy marching tenor drum, 16x18 converted Slingerland floor tom. All original 1960s Camco 5x14...

Re: Snare wires not disengaging low enough

Snare drums that keep the throw off assembly simple do not have this problem. Hence, my preference for simple and uncomplicated snare drums.

Plastic Drums

My dislike for Ludwig drums and my extreme distaste for plastic Ludwig drums should be well-known in this forum.

About an hour ago I saw a posting of a Red Vistalite snare drum being offered for...

Re: What Was The First Year For Slingerland Set-O-Matic Tom Holder?

I have one--possibly two--receiver brackets and a single tom arm for the bass drum receiver and a double tom mount for a floor stand. But I have other Slingerland drums to use them with. I'm just...

Re: What Was The First Year For Slingerland Set-O-Matic Tom Holder?

My 1968 Slingerland set has the first-year version of the Set-o-Matic system. I have spare parts for the chromed version. But, why mess with originality?

Re: Looking for feedback on 9 piece Emerald Green Pearl Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Drum

The 13" tom can be mounted with a change-out of the mounting bracket to the conventional diamond plate. There may not even be any visible extra holes. The same thing could be done with the 14"...

Re: Slingerland Green Sparkle: Thoughts?

Heart of Texas Music was a legendary music store worldwide. Ray, the owner, did not carry any drums in his Austin store. It was all guitars and P.A. All of his drum business came from his satellite...

Re: Looking for feedback on 9 piece Emerald Green Pearl Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Drum

One drum set--12, 13, 16, 24. The other drum set--14, 15, 18, 24. What's so difficult about doing that? Offer the snare drum, Roto toms, each cymbal or pair of hi-hat cymbals by themselves. Sell each...

Re: Can anyone provide any info on this kit?

If you ordered enough stencil drums from the salesperson, you could get your own brand name applied to the drums at the factory. Or, you could contract a fabricator to make badges or stickers or...
