Thanks leedybdp!
That was a great set of tubs. Hopefully the guy that bought them is still enjoying them.

Re: Chicago Drum Show 2022

I plan on driving up from STL for one day. Not really in the market but like to look. I haven't been since 2004 or 2005.

Re: Show us your Satin Flame drums

These were my rewrapped Gretsch set. Original 3 piece (13/16/20) with Pearl style mount holes in the tom & bass. The original wrap on all was cracked or missing. Added the 2nd 16 and the 6 lug snare....

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Josh,
You are correct, it is split, and it tightens onto the rod when the nut is tightened.
There are no threads under the pad.
I found a pic of a similar clutch on eBay and it has 4 felt pads....

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Here's a close-up of the clutch. The clutch is threaded and the large, knurled nut on one side tightens onto it. This tightens it onto the hi hat rod.
Really weird. And this is as tight as it gets.

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Thank O-Lugs!
Here's a weird one. Picked this up off eBay. A Nick Manoloff hi-hat stand, supposedly from the 40's. I have no idea how this clutch is supposed to work?
What do you think?
(And...

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Thanks for all of the kind comments guys!
Here are some pictures of the how the pedal attaches to the bass. There is a metal loop on the bottom that pedal clamps onto. The pedal is an original...

Re: After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Here's another photo, this with only remaining original 18" crash from my uncle. The cybals on the l-arms are a pawn shop 70's A. Zildjian heavy 18" ride and a modern A. 6" splash. I have a 50's 20"...

Re: Premier Aqua Sparkle Drums

I like that aqua sparkle, nice looking kit.
Always wondered why Premier had the joined lugs on the mounted toms and the bass, but didn't do it on floor toms? Messes with my need for uniformity! But...

After 29 years, reacquired my Duplex Spirit of St. Louis set!

Believe it or not, I reacquired my long-lost Spirit of St. Louis kit, minus the snare!!
Long story, so I'll try to keep it short.
Over on the drumforum.org is a member named "DuplexTim". Well, Tim...

Re: Budget-line drums from the Big Four?

Slingerland had the Stageband and the Jam Session kits. Both were double tension, single / center lug.
These were their answer to Lludwig's Club Date line.
The Jam Session was the lowest,...

Re: Huge Gretsch SSB kit for sale here locally-too bad about the rack toms =(

Hate to say it, but they were probably ordered without mounting hardware, and the Rogers mounts installed by the original dealer.
I remember in the early 80's, Halpin Music in Alton, IL was a...

Re: Early/mid 80's PEARL Exports - Type of shell?

I remember thinking they were particle...
