Re: Maxtone Drums

Yes, that gold glitter looks nice!

The fact of the bassdrum and the snare having six lugs each puts the kit into the entry level range - which does not mean they can´t sound really nice once you...

Re: Maxtone Drums

Hi!

According to the second pic I´d guess it´s a 20-12-14-14 configuration, which would indeed be a jazzy outfit!

150,- incl. shipping might also be a fair price, as a hi-hat and a crash cymbal...

Re: Zildjian ZBT Cymbals

Hi Brian!

I´m no expert on cymbals either. Just can give you some thoughts:

Do you have any chance to "test drive" said cymbal before buying it?
Reviews are helpful to find a direction and to...

Re: Hamma Emi Snare Drum - Anyone know about it?

Hi!

For 3,- I think it was more than a steal!
These snares and even complete sets (if I recall right) where made by Premier.
At the moment the exact same snare as yours is on fleabay Germany...

Re: Yamaha brass and tarnish removal

That was a nice price indeed! Great find, hope you enjoy it!

What surprised me with mine was how full this only 4" (or 3,5"?) deep shell sounds, what a nice tone it produces tuned to medium...

Re: Yamaha brass and tarnish removal

Hi!

Congrats, a very fine snare!

This might be a tough project, as it seems that the shell is covered with a thin clear lacquer coat, which you´d have to remove first before you can clean the...

Re: Drop clutch

...now I get it...drop-clutch! DOH

Sorry. So my first post of course is of no help in this case. All I could find about drop-clutches is tightened the usual way - with a screw to the rod.

Hope...

Re: Drop clutch

Hello!

Don´t know if this will be of help, but Sonor did have another system on their PhonicPlus and Sig hihats (see attachment), where the two rollers you see where tightened with the horizontal...

Thank you so much! Cool1

I remember like yesterday as we stood there, drooling all over the podium with these kits on them...:)

So it was their 100th birthday the year I saw these kits, thank you!

Re: Yamaha 100 year anniversary drums

Hello!

Hm, somehow I missed their 100th birthday...:(

This is quite interesting, I remember that back in the 80s Yamaha showed up for an (must have been the 75th then?) anniversary at the...

Re: Yamaha Steel Snare: Early 70's? Any info?

Hi John!

This is indeed a very nice snare - two years ago or so I shot almost the same instrument on fleabay, and was surprised how great it sounds. Put new heads and snares on - WOW!
Mine didn´t...

Re: Just bought this 6 piece Recording Custom?

Hello!

+1 to Jay´s experience!

Due to the lugs and the stain finish Yamaha only used on the 9000 series, I´d say they are recordings.
To be sure completely, the badges will tell you - for...

Yes, that's a great video indeed!
It was taken in 85 or 86 in Berlin, Germany. I recorded the whole concert through a live TV show on VHS cassette back then and watched it again and again. Never...
