No responses so I'll give an opinion. Looking at the edge, my guess is the cymbal was perhaps cracked and then roughly cut down which agrees with your theory. And I also agree, the one rivet hole...

When is a drum considered Vintage?

I have a 1959 Ludwig snare and for sure that is considered vintage but what year (s) are the cutoff for vintage?
