Re: Is this a Ludwig Pioneer?

Thanks, just found out it doesn't have a badge. Geez, who removes those?

Oh well, can't be worth much more than $100 now right?

Is this a Ludwig Pioneer?

Seller claims it's a "blue sparkle vintage pre serial number Ludwig snare".
Sorry don't have pic of the badge yet.

Re: 60s and 70s Ludwigs for sale

Thank you all and I will change the description.

Think my price is fair and would you consider selling the snare and 16 X18 floor tom separately?

Re: Wrap shrink

Thanks V but will the old wrap really stretch enough to cover the gaps?

Wrap shrink

Occurs in 2 different places on my 18 inch 70s Ludwig floor tom. Can I strip that black glue, and if so how, and be sure to find wrap underneath?

Thanks, or just leave it?

Re: What makes someone do this?

True, thanks. That's 2 coats over what appeared to be black enamel. At least the lug screws and washers aren't black anymore.

Repair it with matching wrap or leave it alone?

It's an 18 x16 pointy Blue/Olive badge Ludwig Floor Tom where the wrap shrunk.

At least the previous guy didn't spray the interior black like the rack tom and bass. It's Granitone inside.

Re: What makes someone do this?

I think I will try that Benjamin Moore white paint so I'll let you know how it comes out. I'm cleaning the lug screws and washers now.
The fact that someone painted them black drives me crazy even...

What makes someone do this?

Picked up a mixed set of 60s and 70s Ludwigs and I am in the process of cleaning them. Much to my dismay when I took off the heads I found that some clown spray painted the inside black, lug washers...

70s Supraphonic question

Just picked up a pointy Blue/Olive badge one that shined up great - no pitting at all, just an occasional tiny scratch here and there.

Would you use a metal polish on the inside of the shell too...

Re: Paiste 404s anyone?

Great site, thanks. They are black labels without serial numbers so they are Swiss made as stamped.

Hey O-Lugs: I haven't played them but plan to soon.

Paiste 404s anyone?

I got these with a set of Ludwigs I just bought and did some research on their value. I was surprised they fetched so much so I listed them on eBay here:

Re: Seems like a good deal?

Yes, Tama pedal and stands all newer and very functional. Those Paiste 404s still fetch a good price.
