Re: Welch Tuning System

Even though there is a minimum of attachment points on the shell, there is still a lot of mass, overall. I listened to the drums on a video and they don't sound as if this system has improved any...

Re: Welch Tuning System

I agree. It looks really cool. I imagine that on a snare drum, the tuning effect is going to be less significant than it would be on a tom tom -since the snare mechanism will stop the resonance,...

Re: Anybody Have Experience With Drugan's Drums?

Absolutely! and then some! You sure don't see many transition badge kits like that! Even the rail consolette doesn't look "mashed" from over tightening. That tom mount and others like it can...

Well...I thought he was...but maybe I was wrong. My apologies if I'm incorrect.

Re: Anybody Have Experience With Drugan's Drums?

It might work! There's nothing wrong with hunting for a bargain, if that happens to be what you're after. Who doesn't like getting a good deal, right?

There is another school of thought that...

Re: Anybody Have Experience With Drugan's Drums?

The price of an item is always related to the desire of it...and of course, the ability of a buyer to pay that price. If the desire for that object outweighs the price and the buyer has the ability...

Re: Where to buy 7 tension rods for club date kick?

Wow, that's actually a lot less than I thought they would cost. I'd have guessed 6 dollars or so. Good information! Thanks!

Re: Where to buy 7 tension rods for club date kick?

Yes, they will likely be expensive no matter where you look. You will probably have to bite the bullet and pay the asking price.

Re: Shipping box recommendations for snare drums

I always save any bubble wrap and also those little air bags that people use for shipping stuff. It sure beats the mess of the styrofoam pellets, which can shift around during shipment.

Re: Mystery potentially eastern european snare drum

The wood looks like red oak, to me. It appears that the shell was cut down to its present size, from a larger drum. Likely an experiment.

Re: There Comes a Time

You know...being a drummer in the world is a very, VERY rare talent. I did a quick search: "How many drummers are in the world?" The answer was roughly something like 3.5 million. Then I did a search...

Re: There Comes a Time

Not a downer at all man. It happened to me almost the same way. Gigging became a young man's job around here and I got an image of me being "that guy" who stays too long at the party. It was time for...

Re: Cleaning Wrap - Gretsch Nitro White

Hello and welcome!

In my experience, there isn't much that can be done for UV fading. Those pigments have been altered forever on a molecular level! However, there may be some new restoration...

Re: Looking for a wrapper SF Bay

Aaahhh...Understood.

I know there are many, MANY drum refinishers and restorers out there. I'm certain that, in a metropolitan area such as San Francisco, there will be plenty of people who are...

Re: Looking for a wrapper SF Bay

Hi and welcome!

Was your Jazzette originally wrapped? Or, was it a natural, wood finish? Just so you know, any alteration of your Jazzette will greatly reduce its value if you ever decide to sell...

Re: How have your drum sets evolved over the years?

I felt lucky to have gotten any drum set at all. Where I grew up, you basically had the choice of inheriting the ranch or working for the guy who inherited the ranch.

I wanted a Ludwig kit more...

Re: Rip talker hawkins

I hope this doesn't come across as being out of line or anything, but....I actually had a good friend who grew up with dyslexia. When he wrote stuff, it often came out kinda jumbled or whatever....

Re: How I celebrated my 68th birthday!

Ohhh man! I feel your pain! I had shingles on the right side of my neck that went onto my ear. It felt like someone hit me in the head with a red-hot baseball bat. I couldn't sleep for several days....
