Hi Guys,
Took apart my zoomatic strainer today, cleaned out all the gunk, and want to re-lube. Any advice on what to use? I was going to go with some 3-in-1 oil. Does this sound ok?
Thanks!
James

Vaseline. U take the arm off?
You know, I could not get the arm off. Is there some trick to removing the knob, so that I can get the arm off? Thanks for your help.
James
Don't remove the knob....
It's the number one failure of the Zoomatic, the knob coming loose from over-tightening and/or mistreatment.
If it comes off, there hasn't been a good fix yet for getting it to ever remain installed properly again, aside from a re-work from Jim Petty at JP2 Creations for a price tag of $100 plus shipping.
Wow, thanks for the info Kev! The knob will remain firmly in place :)

Exactly, that's why I'm wondering if anybody has worked magic, successfully.
Do Not use vaseline on the zoomatic or any other parts such as tension rods ect..Vaseline collects dirt and that how it gets gunked up.......After its clean I spray it with Wd40.....If you want to use white lithium grease that is good also but dont over do it.........
Thanks Vinny. After the initial cleaning yesterday I sprayed down with some WD-40 (which also helped to free a bunch of extra gunk). I have some white lithium grease around and will give that a shot!
