I have seen both Zildjiler and Zilciler cymbals out there. I know that these cymbals later became the Istanbul brand.

But, which brand name was the first? Zildjiler or Zilciler?

I have a pair of Zildjiler 14" hihats with ink and stamp, coming my way.....interesting, to say the least!

Ludwig 26" ´75 Green Sparkle
Ludwig Big Beat ´71 Citrus Mod
Sonor Hilite Exclusive Black -90
Yamaha 9000 Sunset Brown ´84
Yamaha 8000 Cobolt Blue ´90
20 different Ludwig B/O snares
Blue Label 602´s, EAK´s and a bunch of vintage A´s.

The Cymbal Book say Zilciler was first. That translates to "cymbalsmiths". Zildjian sued them. The result was a cease and desist order on both the Zilciler and Zildjiler names because of their similarity in spelling to Zildjian. I suspect that they were at least as much displeased with the actual appearance of the stamp font, which was exactly the same as Zildjian was using. Some of the Zildjler cymbals were ink stamped with the Zildjian style script, and others had the name ink stamped in some ersatz Arabic script. This was not the related to the genuine Arabic script as was traditionally used on the old Turkish made cymbal trademarks though.
