Zildjian's "Kerope" series

Loading...

Zildjian will be coming out with a new line od cymbals by the name "Kerope" roughly patterned after the design of old the K's; at least as much as can be done using machine controlled hammering techniques. These will feature broader impact hammering, full size hammered bells with flatter profile, as well as more "cluster hammering" than was used on previous models. Apparently this cymbal is a proto-type for that series:

Most cymbals are hammered this way. I think it facilitates the extra bend at the edge. These have it a little more un-hammered edge-space than other A's. It's true to the old K's because they were also hammered in this same way. I think they're just trying to be faithful to that.

They're coming out in 2014. And remember folks:

You saw it and heard it here first. Another VDF exclusive!

Besides what Bill stated, heavy hammering near the edge adds quite a bit of trash (more than heavy hammering further in). They might have been looking to avoid that.

Later,

Matt

This prototype that you have here sounds great, i'm anxious to see what the final offerings will be. I might actually buy something new for once.

That's nice! Lots of spread on that, too, for the weight. Much more than my 22" new stamp, similarly weighted at 2550 g. Not quite the same stick though.

Sizzle swings.
