Zildjian Medium Bounce cymbals 70's

Loading...

Someone told me this is a mid to late 70's cymbal. Is there a site that shows all the different cymbals Zildjian made in the 70's and other decades. This cymbal still has the stamp on it! it has faded over the years but clearly still visible. It's 18" I haven't gotten my hands on it yet, but I want to make sure that it is authentic. The ink stamp does look real . Does anyone know anything about this type of cymbal?

Welcome Dave

Bounce models have been around since the 1950s at least. Ink giving the model has been around since the 1930s, although most people still don't seem to realize that. I haven't got a picture of a Bounce from the 1970s but that doesn't mean they weren't around. According to Zildjian, Bounce is just another name for a Ride Cymbal. This is supposed to be a 1970s document although I haven't been able to confirm that independently yet.

Check out my site: http://black.net.nz/avedis/avedis-gallery.html

and scroll down a bit for the ink info. There is an example of an early ink style there. The BOUNCE ink on yours may look similar in terms of the height and thickness of the letters. I know of (but haven't written up) at least 4 different ink styles in use in different eras, and I've got lots of ink model photos which aren't up on the site. I haven't yet got to when different specific models were in production, but my site may help you identify when it is from. Otherwise when you get it, put up some photos. Meanwhile, to tide you over here is a cymbal with two different ink styles:

Hope this helps.
