Zildjian K Intanbul Ride Stamp.

Loading...

Hi All,

This is my first post on the site and i need a little help with a 22" Zildjian k ride i have.

The stamp has the moon and small star , the words made in Turkey are arched around that (so far so good) The next part has me stumped, there is NO Arabic writting at all and no space for any, only the words Zildjian then ISTANBUL, then Zildjian&co under that.

The stamp is in the middle of the cymbal, has anyone seen this type of stamp before (without the Arabic),cant find any info on the net at all.

The cymbal has been signed under the bell (as normal) it has deep wide lathing on the top surface, anyone got any idea of age and the stamp?

Sorry about the pic.

First what's needed is a clearer pic of that trademark.

That's genuine which is what I wanted to confirm first. But this is the first example that I've ever seen where they left out the Arabic script. The different components were impressed separately and so its could happen, and so it did here. I've seen many trademark errors before but not one exactly like this one.

That's an intermediate stamp dating from 1959 - 1963.

Thanks for your time and the info. I had no clue and could only find one other with the same wide Lathing but that had a differnt stamp.

I know nothing about these cymbals.

When i took it into a well know drum shop in my area they told me a Zildjian K with this type of lathing is only worth a quarter of any other model vintage K as i quote "they are brighter in sound"

They then told me its worth £150, it does have a fair amount of keyhole and now an abnormal stamp but its thin, 22" and 2000g in weight.I look around and see Ks selling for far more than this, im not selling but i think they are trying to pull a fast one with me.

Are these the least popular Ks in anyones opinion?

Thanks again.

Yes they are quite popular, and especially in that weight range. That drum shop is trying to snow you. Nobody ever looks at the lathing and turns a K down based on some specious notion about how that relates (or doesn't) to the supposed brightness or the lack thereof.
