Zildjian A's vs K's?

Loading...

You can have one K that a drummer loves and another drummer loathes, and it's the same cymbal. It's down to the ear.

If I had to play modern Zillys, I'd play K's any day of the week over A's. But there are a few A's I like. It's down to the ear...

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

From calfskin

Cymbals are meant to be listened to not worshipped. In the world of wine there is a study called a blind tasting. In the world of musical instruments there should be a study called a blind listening. That way , the dedicated artisans who laboured to create unheralded treasures will be appreciated for their efforts, not simply cast aside because legions of witless devotees do not notice them because they are too busy slobbering at the altar.

I agree. I took up the challenge laid down by one of Cymbalholic's illustrious former moderators named Bill Kay, but guess what? He chickened out. A real big talker while on the site, but a gutless no-show when it came to putting his cymbals where his mouth was. And that's exactly what I expected from somebody like him.

So I'm at the Chicago Show every year with a big batch of old K's, and if anyone wants to play....I'm game.

Just stop by my table.
