Happy holidays, y'all! This year I stumbled haphazardly upon my gift to myself. I was lucky enough to score not one but 2 Super Classic kits this year, along with a whole haul of of stuff. I really shouldn't even being looking at more drums, but I did really need a "bop" kit for the tinier gigs. I wanted to do this as cheaply as possible. I had a couple plans for just adding a Rogers, Ludwig or Keller marching kick, but I never seemed to find one that I could get locally, without crazy shipping & something with a vintage vibe. Then I stumbled across a guy selling a batch of random Ludwig blue sparkle shells on Kijiji, 2 B/O marchers 12x16 & 12x14 & a 7x10 & 9x13 Birch Classic toms from early 2000s. I got the 4 drums for 200 Canadian. In the same week I stumbled across a Dixson bass drum lift for 50 bucks & there you go, instant "bop" kit, or mini "rock" kit really, with an emad on there. I jerry-rigged the top of a kids snare stand to an MIJ flat stand for the 10" tom, used a Worldmax cradle for the 14" & the lift for the 16" & I've got myself a BreakDownBeat configuration.
