WTB: Radio King BD, FT, and snare

Loading...

With the Premiers being enjoyed by their new owner, I'm looking to put together some Radio Kings for my rockabilly gig. I just need BD, FT, and snare, so maybe someone has a 4-piece missing the rack tom? Or maybe I can find three orphans? I prefer the pre-1955 drums with beavertail (streamline) lugs. I'm sure it's a total pipe dream to find a 14" FT (do these even exist?). I'd really like a 6.5 or 7" deep snare with 16 lugs. There's a sweet '53 with clamshell strainer in the for sale section, but its a bit out of my range.

I'm fine with drums that need to be re wrapped, as long as all of the parts are present and the shells are in great shape. Thanks in advance!

The only 14" diameter RK tom toms offered during that era were the 12x14 size. Of course, custom sizes could be ordered, so anything is possible.

Hi, Murph

Didnt know that was you! Glad to see you on the forum. I'll definitely check out your songs. Also glad you are getting some good use out of your Radio Kings.

Hey Mark!

It really is a small world. I almost feel guilty trying to put a second radio king kit together... the drums I got from you have totally rocked my world. They are just SO NICE, the thought of gigging them (in some of the environments I play) just makes me real nervous. Hoping to put a kit together that has similar mojo, without being so darned nice. :-)

I snapped a few pics of the RKs in the studio... you can check them out here:

The guys in the band freakin LOVE those drums as much as I do. I'm actually going to be playing them till I can put something else together.
