Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

What a drag. Those Slingy jazzers make some sweet sounds.

Well...after successfully removing the chrome-o-wood wrap from the 8x12 I have, I've decided to reinstate this project, so now I am again looking for a 14x14 floor tom, but may consider your offer Mikey if the complete assembled one I spotted on ebay does go for rediculous money.....

Ok, I'm probably gonna regret spending as much as I did, but I won the complete one that was on ebay. It was a re-wrap, but complete. I'll know in a week or so what I'm into. I figured since the leg mounts and legs go for such rediculous money on their own, that if I added up all the parts to build a slingy 14x14, I probably did ok. It's supposedly a mid 60's drum with original chocolate stain interior. It's been wrapped in the "aged" white pearl wrap, but not to worry....that's gonna go real soon. Natural maple veneer is on the way......Excited

Got the floor tom in the mail today. It is complete and the hardware is in decent shape. The wrap, however, is in pretty sad shape already.....but as I said, that's going anyway. Already got it all apart and started to strip the wrap off....all I gotta say is WOW! I don't think I've ever seen such a poor wrap job in my life! You should've seen what they did to the badge grommet to reattach the badge! Lets just say its more than squashed flat on both sides! Also, the adhesive used to bond the wrap to the shell appears to be a combination of hot-melt glue from a glue gun and possibly Liquid Nails! Guess I have some glue removal to do, as well as some minor filling to the outter ply before I put the maple veneer on. Some people's children!

I have a 14x14 that I bought around 1976. It's in really excellent condition for it's age. I couldn't figure out how to PM you from this page. Free free to contact me, if interested, for more details
