I bought my Yamaha's new but lost the original key that came with them.

I have other keys I use, but I'd like to have a Yamaha key just because.

If you collectors have duplicates on any Yamaha keys, please post them so I can see what they look like. Mine would be early to mid 90's, but the drums were actually made between 80 and 89 so both 'vintages' would be great (if they even changed in that time frame??).

Thanks in advance, and I'll look to see what other keys I might have to offer the collecting group here...

EDIT=> I checked and all I have of interest is a Ludwig ratchet-type drum key with a red vinyl handle- but I engraved my initials on it, so I doubt anyone would want it... From the Drum Corps lug-snapping days... (my main key would easily snap a lug too)

Cobalt Blue Yamaha Recording Custom 20b-22b-8-10-12-13-15-16f-18f
Red Ripple '70's Yamaha D-20 20b-12-14f
Piano Black Yamaha Recording Custom Be-Bop kit 18b-10-14f
Snares:
Yamaha COS SDM5; Yamaha Cobalt Blue RC 5-1/2x14; Gretsch round badge WMP; 1972 Ludwig Acrolite; 1978 Ludwig Super Sensitive; Cobalt Blue one-off Montineri; Yamaha Musashi 6.5X13 Oak; cheap 3.5X13 brass piccolo

Saw the PM; but re-reading this reminds me of a funny slightly off topic story (but it did involve a drum key-several in fact).

The lug snapping days were punctuated by a 'state of the art' move where I duct taped a tuning key to a 2S marching stick (all the way out at one end of course) and used that to get 'suitable' head tension. I exploded several keys, lugs and even split some nuts. The groaning and creaking prior to the *POP* was entertaining...

We would tear them down and use automotive CV joint grease to lube the lugs and nuts, but I think a lot of the noise was coming from the washers... We would grind the chrome right off them (in flakes) with tis technique.

They sounded pretty good until the heads popped. I think at the time our best success was with Ludwig Rockers heads since they had the fully crimped/rolled hoop on them. Even the Remo Powerstoke heads (standard hoops with a rubber gasket glued on top) would blow apart on us.

This started with Ludwig marching drums from the 60's I guess that had no idea what they were in for, but later we got some Pearl marching drums that were more up to the challenge.

Good times!:)
