I have these premiers I have mentioned in a few other threads.
The wrap is split and tore on the floor tom and bass drum. I removed the wrap off of the floor tom and discovered the shells are some sort of particle board/plywood hybrid. I have been debating on what to wrap them in. being as how they seem to be cheap drums, I don't wanna put a lot of money into them.
I have been researching all the drum suppliers wraps and the cheap ones on ebay. I don't want to spend a lot on them, but I also don't want to go through all that work and put some cheap ass wrap on them that's gonna scratch real easy. As some of y'all know I own a upholstery shop. I have piles and piles on vinyl samples. I have been looking at some that would look pretty cool on some drums. The thing I don't know is this: Will the vinyl dampen the sound projection? Most vinyl has a knit backing and the vinyl is somewhat soft to the touch. It also has some stretch, some more that others. Black Panther finish is some sort of vinyl, but It isn't soft to the touch, and I'm sure it isn't stretchy.
Furthermore, I told my brother about the premiers and he suggested that they may have been some experimental shells that could possibly be worth something.
