3 badges - another $50

WHAT?!?!?!? Where can you get 3 round badges for $50??? Actually, I just need a bass drum badge. If you can point me in that direction, I'd be very grateful!

This thread has awesome timing, because I JUST bought a collection of orphan round badge drums, 12/14/20 for $500 two weeks ago. They weren't re-wrapped badly or anything, but they have all of the hardware except the bass drum badge. They are missing the paper tags, but who knows if they actually had them to begin with? I bought it because I've wanted a set of round badges since I played a 13/16/20 set that sounded amazing a few years back. And $500...not bad! I was looking at the cost of re-wrapping (around $200 for the pre-cut sheets) and the bass drum badge ($150 on eBay Mind Blowi), and figured that I would be able to make more than my money back IF I decided to sell them, so it would be a worthwhile investment. This thread has me thinking otherwise, now.

Do they currently sell for around $800? Really?!?!?!? That's a shocker to me!

I look at this different than most I guess. I'm old and money is no object = I never have any - haha. To me the drums are worth more than money. In other words; if you can end up with a nice Gretsch RB shellpack/kit for under a couple of K you're doing better than fine. These drums are beautiful as most here know. They're part of great American drum history.....and that's worth something by itself I'd say.

I think you'd be smart to buy the drums and work at them until you have a gorgeous little RB kit..........

Great thread........

Dunno...just pulled it outta my #ss...I mean Slingy, Luddy, Rogers badges all go for between $10-25, so I figured...

...but then again, your news is of no surprise to me. Gretsch parts are hella expensive...prohibitively so, sometimes....

That's kinda hilarious though...I mean...for $150...I'd figure you can nab a complete orphan TOM with the badge....

I don't think a Gretsch badge itself would really BID up to $150....

....would it ?????

Even "orphan" Gretsch drums are rediculously priced, especially if its a 14x18 bass drum! Gretsch parts prices are nutz too! I don't even want to tell you how much I paid for that Renown throw-off that I was looking for for almost a year! Not only was it hard to find, but it was EXPENSIVE.......LoLoLoLo

An orphan Gretsch tom for $150 WITH the badge on it still is a STEAL, any size!

Wow...about a year back, I had an orphan 12" round badge tom that I couldn't give away for $60. I should have put it on the bay, evidently! Eye Ball
