Work Bench

Loading...

Hello friends. Just getting back from a week vacation in Alpena Michigan. I'm about to get back to projects and my hands are feeling like they're ready to work after my carpal tunnel surgeries.

My question is about work bench height. From my research I've found they say to build 33"-36" high for an average height man (which I am).

Would this be the same when working on drums? Do you guys have any input on this for me?

When I see 36" it doesn't seem high enough to my eye/mind.

Thanks for your time.

My bench is an old drafting table. 4'x6' by 37" tall. Seems okay maybe a little high. Puts me shoulder level with a floor tom. Oh crap everything is going to fall off the bench.... sorry can't get the picture to rotate. :(

36" is the standard kitchen counter height and generally works well. We also have a lower 29" bench in the shop for working on taller items, say a 16" floor tom or 14" deep bass drum.

My dad built his at 39" in his work shed which is now my work shop. I find it a good comfortable height.

depends on what your working on. If you're asking because you want optimum height to prevent new injuries (maybe a doctor or fysiotherapist told you so?) I'd say go look for a workbench with adjustable height.
