Wire for ludwig classic marching band.

Loading...

Hi, i'm new on the forum, living in France, i bought a Ludwig marching band snare from 1970, it's a 14x10 deep with a classic trow off. I need to change the wire snare. Normaly a marching band strainer is fixing on it, but i'd like to put a normal strainer, a 15" will be great, with a string on one side, and a little hole on the other side . Does anyone have already try fit a normal one on a marching band snare ? Do you have any adress where i can find it ?

thanks a lot !!!

Bonjour! (And that's about all the French I know.) ;)

If your drum has a "Classic" P87 strainer, we need to know what's on the other side of the drum. The Classic P87 could've been paired with a P32 butt or a P34 butt. (And there were two versions of the P34 butt as I found out in the link Shawn mentioned.) With either the P32 or P34, there are a few different options.

Skydogs pics show the LATER style P34 butt plate.

The early one like mine is a 2 bolt mount and the snare aperture is mirrored.
