who made these Bollero drums ?

I'm thinking Kenwood should chime in here given his extension array of MIJ.

From Kenwood

...They are Pearl built not Star ...I can see by the t-rods the cymbal bracket and most importantly the seven lug floor tom only Pearl drilled some not all of their floor tom shells for just seven lugs. ...

+1

Although I have to admit, that the bass drum lugs really look equal to Star made ones, the killer argument is the tom holder bracket at the rack tom. You'll never see such a rhombic shape of a plate at any of Star made drums.

Plus: the T-rods at the bass drum (if original).

Plus: Star made pedals sometimes show the wording 'Pro Pedal' - never 'Speed Pedal', like this one/s.

Not to forget the 7 lugger floor tom.

The summary of the deviations makes the difference. ;)

I completely agree with Ralf that these drums are Bollero! When I went back and looked at the pictures, I also noticed the diamond-shape tom bracket and was aware that Star used a rectangular bracket that was curved on top. So, it looks like we are satisfied that this well preserved 60's MIJ set was made by Pearl!

I would say late sixties on them

and I sure agree that the Star and Pearl versions of Slingerland cloned lugs

especially the bass drum lugs are hard to tell apart

if memory serves even the hole spacing lines up

The Pearl lug may be just a tad longer over all

How much are you asking for these drums mgtcnut?

Whatever reasons drum makers gave for making their drums (usually the toms) with an odd number of lugs (5 or 7), I'm pretty sure that the real reason was to reduce manufacturing costs. This is the same reason---the only reason---for discontinuing internal tone controls and springs within the lugs. The "noises" from tone controls and lug springs are a cinch to eliminate if somebody's ears are able to hear the sounds. When the manufacturers made their drums with fewer lugs they made more profit when they sold a drum set at the same price as drum sets with more lugs. The manufacturers didn't lower their prices when they began making their drums with no internal tone controls or with springless lugs even though parts and labor costs were reduced.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
