And from the last two testimonials, this is what I am trying to prove, to get a wide opinion level, and your right being the largest doesn't make you best, but being the most widely used does mean you are the most popular!! Even though That is Not what this POLL IS ABOUT, there is no such thing as best!!! I own remo, ludwig, aquarian. and attack which are great heads also!but remo are the one's I use the most which means nothing!!
Don't get me wrong, I used to use Remo all the time. Then the quality started to go downhill and fast. So I started trying other heads. Evans weren't much better than Remo I found and nobody around here carried a large selection of them. Then I went into a new shop that opened up that carried Ludwig and Aquarian heads. I started using Ludwig heads on one of my vintage kits for the look, then found out they sounded good too, but after a while the demand wasn't there at the shop so they stopped carrying them. They can still order them, but they aren't carrying them in the shop anymore. So I tried some Aquarians. I tell you I was impressed! They tuned up easier than any head I've ever put on my drums (including the Ludwig heads) and they stayed there. Also they seem to hold up better than any other head I've used AND the selection of different heads is just as wide-ranging as Remo. Nothing woke up my bass drum like their Superkick/Regulator combo of heads. The other thing I noticed about Aquarian heads is that they are warmer sounding heads than the equivalent Remo head. I can't explain why but a regular Aquarian Texture coated head is warmer sounding than a coated Ambassador head, and they are similar heads of similar thickness (10mil).
So this is why I switched. Like I said Remo may be the biggest, but Aquarian is the best. BTW, they are gaining in popularity.......maybe someday they will outsell Remo.....
