I need at least one of these tension rods. I've had the treads identified as Whitworth.. British.
The drum is early 1900's or maybe earlier. Shell is Birdseye Maple.
Hi Kona!
I just did a Google search for "what is whitworth thread". Wow, this is going to be a tough tension rod to find! The Whitworth thread specs were implemented before the turn of the 20th century! Still, you never know what others may have in their spare parts bins!
Here's one of many hits that might help others to know about the Whitworth thread pitch... https://britishfasteners.com/threads-bsw

Whitworth threaded fasteners were still being used in the UK into the 70's. Most Premier stuff from that period have Whitworth fasteners. The exception is the tension rods. If the T nut or cymbal wingnut on a Premier stand get's lost, it is a pain to find a replacement because in most cases, nothing else fits. There are two types of Whitworth threads, BSW, British Standard Whitworth and BFW, British Fine Whitworth.
thin shell!
Thanks for that information!
