Hello everyone! I am trying to fix a Zoomatic on my COB Krupa snare which sounds amazing but just has this really annoying problem. Problem is, I'm not sure where to find an appropriately sized spring! I was wondering if any members here could help me locate where I could find some! Thank you :D Also, what size would you recommend? I was thinking of the 3/4" by 1/2" that was used on the Drum Guide but I cannot find one! So any help would be truly appreciated!
Where to get a spring for a Zoomatic?
I used a cut down suspension spring from a Dual turntable (1/2 " dia and cut down to the 3/4") works great ..
but my tonearm bounces around now..
Cheers

I don't have a turntable but I'll see what I can knowing it's a suspension spring. Did you cut it down with a wirecutter?

John, just re-adjust the counter weight to a more weight foward position. That should help with the bouncing problem.Cheers

Used a cold chisel and a quick touch up on the bench grinder.. I think a spring from a bicycle pump is similar Dia..

Thanks Steve.. I'll see you at the Vinyl Engine forum..

Just bring the spring to a big box stire. They have tons of springs,or a local mom and pop hardware store...the older ,the better,Ace hardware usually has a large selection of springs and hardware to choose from.
You can cut them down with wire cutters.

Okay good, as I have no other such tools! I'll have to go check as I wasn't sure if Home Depot/Lowes would have them. I'll check there, too just to be sure.
So at the end of it all open the strainer, put it over the threaded portion, and that's it?
Yep that's it..
Here's what I used after it was cut..

Yes, it's the pivot section of the strainer.. I had that removed because I was also putting a new washer behind the adjustment knob.
You won't have to remove that to fit a spring..
