Basically the title. I ran out of snare cord, and figured I might as well get a nice spool of something. (Maybe this?) I was thinking about going to Michaels and picking up some nylon cord for cheap, but wanted to know if there is anything people prefer and swear by.
What's your go-to snare cord?
I prefer grosgrain ribbon... lasts forever
Ludwig snare cord from amazon works for me.
Ludwig snare cord !
For many of my vintage drums, where the throw-off can only use string, I use Ludwig snare cord. I still have enough of the orange cord for lots of snare drums!
For drums that have a throw-off with a clamping bar, such as the second generation and later Slingerland Zoomatic, I make my own straps from 3M filament reinforced tape. This is the type that both Slingerland and Tama used on many of their throws.
Many newer throws, such as the Ludwig p85, came standard with plastic strips. However, I sometimes find those strips to be too thick. I make thinner strips from old snare-side heads. They hold tight and are very flexible!

I used the Ludwig cord.
Grosgrain ribbon or the pink Pearl branded cord. (The Pearl wears very well & is nice & thin)..
