What's this Dynasonic worth? Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Hi guys, new here and I have a question. I'm not a drummer but I am selling an old student level drumset for my son. It quickly became evident that the Rogers snare was what was valuable cuz everyone responding to the craigslisting casually mentioned that they'd take the snare off my hands separately if I wanted. Turns out its a Dynasonic serial number D119994. It seems to be in pretty fine shape; Im actually going to go out and spend some time cleaning it up. It has the large R. The frame is there but the snare wires have kind of fallen apart. The screw on one end of the frame is missing I believe but the adjuster end seems to be intact.

I'm a forum guy for cars and thought I'd go right to the group with answers on this. What is this thing worth, more or less? should I ebay it separately or what? Its in a Gambles kit which is pretty basic looking and I need to get rid of the whole deal.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

I'm no Rogers expert, but I think it's safe to say that your Big R 70's era Dynasonic, if in decent shape, with no pitting, all original and functional working parts can bring in anywhere between $200-$400, also depending on the sizes. Awesome snare drum to have.. As you can already tell from the offers for just the snare drum, you'll have no problem selling it ..

Agreed! How do I do that exactly?

I could have clarified a little I guess by saying that the chrome isnt rusty and there are no dents and nothing seems to be missing except for the snare wires being unattached to the frame. The transparent head on the botton has a tear in one edge where the from and wires hit it. and the damper sorry for wrong terms under the head seems to work fine...

Thanks for your help. I'm a metalsmith and engraver with almost 40 years on the bench so Ive got a little experience!

Good for you on paying attention to what was happening with the offers and realizing you had something that you didn't know the value of. As much as we drummers love a great deal, it's up to the seller to understand what they are selling.

When you make a post, look for the paperclip icon, which is to attach a file.

It will open a new window called "Manage Attachments"

Click the "Choose File" button and browse to the picture > Select it > Hit the "Open" button on the bottom right (be for warned though, that it needs to be a smaller sized picture. If you need to re-size the pic, ask the kid to help you :)

Next, hit the Upload button and then close the window.

You sound like a cool dad. What kind of metalsmithing/engraving do you do? (I miss that stuff!)

Thanks for that... I try. I actually gave him my user name and password for this forum to do some of the tech stuff. I'm just a shop rat... he's an aeronautical engineer.

Started out in the ***elry business then I made and sold hammered copper wall stuff and weathervanes wholesale and retail for twenty years on my own. For the past doze years or so I've been engraving guns for a company in CT...

Hey Rob, Rich here, I met you Wed. night. This is a great forum and these guys won't steer you wrong. You have a great snare there and if you take the time to clean it up, you'll have no problem selling it. Also there's a category here for "non USA drums" where you can learn all about you Gamble drums and their value. I have to tell you though, these guys like pics. You can use the "manage attachments" button at the bottom of the page when your posting. Good luck and if you need any help, let me know. Rich
