Hey there backbeatkeeper! I believe this particular key was designed to be used with a key-holder and kept on a marching drum. Sure sold for a high price, but I haven't seen this style offered before.

The rogers key did indeed go on a clip My 1965 Tophat set hat the clip and key on the 16x16 along with a extra knobby at the top... I sold a key and clip about 2 years ago it went for 90.00.

that's one thing i learned from my old boss...vintage drum keys go for big bucks. but i never seen one go for $200.+ like the other guy linked to. holy crap.i should start selling on ebay again!

i remember seeing 2 articles in a couple of drum magazines about vintage drum keys. one was by the guy from rebeats (can't remember his name right now) its good reading but i don't remember the issues or years. probibly nsmd and modern drummer. if i find them i'll let you know.
