Ok, Today i went to a high school near me in ca..The music teacher is looking to un-load some old marching drums..He wants me to make an offer..In the room that was dusty and not very good with lighting the drums are Ludwig, some slingerland and some that looked to be Leedy sizes are only a guess but the bass drums anywere from 20" to 34" or 36'' from maybe 8" to 12" deep but the 34''-36'' drums more like 16'' deep..maybe about 20 or so of them...snare's 14",15" maybe 12" to 14" deep, toms 13" to 15" or 16" from 9" deep to 12"-14" deep..total drums i would say maybe 40 or so..some are single lug drums some are double lug drums.I would say most are from the 60s-70s maybe some 80s,,the condition for what i can tell are for parts to restore..So what would you offer to the school's music program for all the drums??? $20 for bass drums and $10 for any other drum is what I'd offer to take everything and haul it all off for him.

I would work on the assumption that they need the room, don't want to spend a lot of time on auctioning stuff, etc. and the fact that you're taking the bulk -good, bad or indifferent. But, of course, it ultimately depends on what your assessment of turning them into a profit is. School band instruments get put through the ringer -often being played outside in the rain and snow and sun, etc. You may end up trashing a percentage of the stuff you take.

Yes O-Lugs what you say is so true.I was in marching band back in the day and played Ludwig drums..Boy i was hard on them but the 34" or 36" bass drum is what iam after i don't have one of them you know as far as the snare's 15" i have a pile of shells at my own shop that i have strip for parts years ago and still have the shells seems that i just can't trash them....I can see your point on that..Maybe i just offer a flat 15.00 a drum and take them all and strip the bad ones for the parts for resell and the good complete ones too......Mikey
