what type of spray used inside of drum shell

Loading...

greetings all,

what type of paint was used on the inside of the shells

on the tama swingstar series back in mid 80's?

the disciption l would say is a speckle grey, white and black.this type of paint was used inside of some small pianos. it was described as having the deep rich tone quality as the top of the line at the time I think tama's artiststar.

I would like to find a simular paint to try on a snare drum interior shell.any Ideas? The Band

The only speckle paint I've ever seen was sold in auto parts places. Car manufacturers use it in trunks. I have seen it in the color combo you mentioned. Whether that has the acoustic properties you're looking for is hard to say.

I've used PlastiKote "Fleckstone" paint before and it was pretty similar to what I think you're describing. It was similar to the "Granitone" finish on 1970s Ludwig shell interiors.

I think the Fleckstone paint I'm familiar with has been re-branded as Valspar Stone:

I contacted a valspar tech and was told no dampening effects it's strictly a decorative paint.
