What Is Your "Go To" Bass Pedal

Loading...

I've tried many many pedals over the years, some even rare/creative designs, but I always seem to end up back with the Speed King, with the Ghost a close second. Simplicity seems to work & feel best to me. Some pedals have many, many adjustments to them for the drummer to tinker with to get it "just right". Others, like the Speed King and Ghost only have a couple of adjustments, and that's for spring tension only, and that's all they need. When you get it right the first time, why mess with it by adding all kind of adjustments?

I call them the Charlie Watts of bass pedals. :D

I've had the same Iron Cobra powerglide single for the last 12 years or so. It's usually got a danmar hard felt beater or occasionally a danmar wood beater and there's a vintage bomber lying around somewhere but I haven't played anything that called for that in a couple of years. I've worn through a fair few beaters and had to replace the spring but aside from that the Tama is still going like it was at day one. Can't see myself ever getting rid of it and it will probably outlast me.

That being said I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a refurbished Speed King/Master to see what all the fuss is about.

Ludwig Speed King for me . I have tried countless others and always go back to the SK .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I use a 35 year old Fibes chain drive pedal I bought from James Corder at his drum factory. Second would be my WFL speed King, and third my Sonor . I use the Fibes %90 of the time. I have a Pearl P200 on the set in my studio.

Retired my 1979 Tama pedals 2 years ago and switched to a pair of Trick Bigfoot pedals. My double bass drum kit needs 2 independent pedals which Trick provides by each pedal having it's own spring, or I can go both pedals on 1 kick for my other kits.

Sonor Perfect Balance is my current favourite pedal with the Axis A21 a very close 1a. Both are extremely responsive, quick and reliable.
