Last week I picked up an old Yamaha 70´s Blue Willow kit. At first the 13" hihats looked like old K´s. But at a closer look, this is what I saw:

Anyone have clue what this is?

Thin cymbals and sounds very K-ish.

Nice patina and lathing!

At first, looks like Old K to me as well, but possibly Italian cymbal from its stamp?

Wait, I can read Constantinople at the last pic.

Old K Constantinople?, but something strange.

Or Stanople(Italian cymbal)?

From OddBall

The thick moon is over the top of the star !!

Is that good?

Yes, it says "Constantinople" both in the stamp and under the bell.

They sound very dark, low volume, papery. :-)

Does it say "Iveltiann"? What do you guys think?

Ringo,

The small star and the moon above it led me to suspect Italian stencil brand. I`m very new at cymbal ID`n. Last year someone posted this tablet of UFIP stencil stamps, the name on your cymbal is on it in the top left corner, twice. However the Constntinople doesn`t, but now I believe yours is UFIP brand and can`t nail the year !!

Mystery solved?

The underlying "pinwheel" pattern that you see in the cymbal body is a sure-fire indication of rotocasting, which is the Italian process.

Unless there is a Turkish cymbal company that has adopted the rotocast process, the Constantinople stamp is there for show, which is actually perfectly legal, as it doesn't say "Made in Constantinople", which BTW doesn't even exist anymore! ;)

Perhaps an independent cymbalsmith in Turkey is importing rotocast blanks from Italy.
