What is this part?

While removing hardware (spur mounts, cymbal L-arm mount) from a '60s Ludwig bass drum recently to start a little spring cleaning, two metal "sleeves" (right term?) dislodged from the shell. I'm trying to determine exactly where they were originally mounted. I'm also wondering why there wouldn't be three of these -- one for each mount that was removed. Is it because each spur mount would have one but the cymbal L-arm mount wouldn't?

Any "words of wisdom" as to what this part is, where it goes and how it's installed would be greatly appreciated.

I would tend to agree with that as if it was a strength issue from a enginering point of few it would only make sense for a budget not to add to cymbal holder ...

hello oldschool, the clips your asking about go in the two mounts for the spurs, reason being most people do not remove spurs from drum shell, just fold them in. the locks keep spurs from falling out, the cymbal arm is removed for transporting drums so will not require a lock.

to put assemble, the lock is placed inside the mount, and leg is inserted through the mount, lock. the assembly is then placed on drum, make sure every thing is in right order before placing on drum.

over the years most of the clips have been lost on most kits.
