the closest match I have found has led me to believe these might be Ludwigs, maybe from the 20's? One is 15" X 5" - 6 lugs, crimped snare bed, no dents and few scarches. the other is also in very good shape, no dents, no extra holes. The second is 15" X 4" with 8 lug holes. HOWEVER, I have no other hardware, except one old snare butt - the kind one simply runs the string through and ties off. The shells need cleaning, but I will do tht carefully.
ANY HELP WHATSOEVER would be greatly appreciated. These belonged to my teacher, jazz great Tony DeNicola and may have been used in his early years - before he was with Charlie Ventura and definitely before Harry James. I would like to restore them with hardware that is as close to original as possible, even if I have to use repros. Only, I have no idea what kind of strainer was used. I do not want to drill holes for a new strainer, so, if you can help - please feel free. Pics below
