Why with in the last few years all you see for sale are some club dates and a few orphans or really abused stuff ? Is every one hoarding? Has the over seas market takin its toll ? Just wondering a decade ago you could of bought snares for on the cheap ....even Mikey has to be running out of stock lol...
What happened to all the Ringo gear?
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I don't recall any time since the late 1980's (when I started looking for "Ringo" drums) when you get the snares for cheap. Even then folks in the know wanted $2K for an OBP jazzfest. In fact back then they were thought to be much more rare than they actually have turned out to be. Of course when the vintage drum hobby was young you were much more likely to be able to find these drums in the hands of folks who weren't in the know to pop up at low prices. Most of those have probably surfaced by now and thanks to the plugged in world and ebay it isn't too difficult for people to find out what they are worth (or in a bidding situation for the drum to climb to that level on its own). After 20 years of hunting and hoping to find an affordable OBP Jazzfest at a garage sale or such I finally ponied up the dough to buy one from a friend at the lower end of the going rate ($2K). Obviously it could still happen that one could pop up somewhere at a sweet price...but lots of luck would be involved too.
