What stick grips do you or have you used?
Which is your favorite and why?
For myself, I use two grips depending on what I'm playing. Traditional and matched. The former for blues and jazz, the latter for most everything else.

I grip the ends of the sticks. That way, they don't go flying across the room. Other than that, I just make sure one end whacks the head or round metal thingy.
I have drumming gloves glued to my sticks in various different grips that I use for different styles of playing....this way I can't possibly have a stick go flying out of my hands while bashing those round things with those dented see through things on the top.......LoLoLoLo

OK, mcjnic uses the cosmic 'natural' grip. Very pleased that you aim for the round, flat bits of your kit. I'm sure the bass player is pleased as well!

For the CN grip it's best not to stress 'ends' much. Being in the same room with the sticks generally suffices.
dude uses the 'just weld them on' method. This method is best used in conjunction with an exercise regimen. When young, you have rounded fence posts attached to your gloves. By the end of your career, the sticks have worn down.

Sincerely, I use what turns out to be a modified timpani grip that allows me to whip the stick with a bit more force and control. Through the years, I've worked on what has turned out to be a fairly unique grip. I didn't know it because I never took lessons. It just felt right to me so I built on it. This grip allows me to get quite a bit of force with little to no arm action. I can do one handed rolls with it without any problem. It allows for very subtle movements. Nothing extraordinary. Just something that has allowed me to play the drums all these years.
Sometimes when we three end up on the same thread.... frivolity abounds.
But those two ( not me ) have definitely got the knowledge.. I'm just an old newbie.

I've not seen the vid, but I'm just another bozo on the bus here... I've learned more in the last couple months as I did in the last thirty years. No poo. Real knowledge has attaced itself to me like so many barnacles! Bowing
I use trad... used matched for awhile and it's nice when you have lots of toms. I like my snare with a pretty good dive bomber slant.
Matched doesn't seem too comfortable for brushes.
For backbeats I always turn the stick around and hit with the butt end for a fat, low sound.
The French Grip style of matched (thumbs up) is incredibly fast. I saw a guy once that had his snare and toms so slanted up it was nuts. And he played thumbs up and he was incredibly fast.
