What drum do i have

Loading...

Hello everyone,

I am trying to identify a drum that my father left me,its been in the loft for as long as i can remember. All the information it says on the drum is Leedy, indianapolis,Ind,Its approx 14.5" across and 6" deep.

Looks like it is made from brass and been painted black at some stage.

Hope thats enough information.

I dont know how to upload pictures on here so the link to the drum is here.

Could be a Black Elite (engraved) painted over (just like 1 I have right now)....or....maybe a White Elite, which I think is more rare!

Take the hardware off, strip the paint.can't hurt it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi, i dont see any engraving on it anywhere so without taking the paint off how do you tell the difference between a black one and a white one

Going backwards with the posts........weird

anyway, just CAREFULLY scratch a little piece of the ( pretty much assured )LEAD paint off with a fingernail........you can see what color then.

The best way to tell which one is black and which one is white - the black one will be black and the white one will be white.

White is white....black is black........or is it ? what i meant was is there any design features that distinguish the two colours apart other than the obvious.

Was planning on sticking it up on ebay but not got a clue of its worth ?

Sorry couldn't help myself. I looks to me that the drum was painted black over it's original nickle plate.

In any case, what you have there is a valuable drum. Several hundred bucks worth.
