[COLOR="DarkRed"]The first stamp is likely a '60's. Maybe worth $50 or so.

The second stamp looks like a transitional stamp, meaning late '40's-early 50's. If it is a good weight (not over 1000g, say) it's probably worth about $120-150.

The third one appears to be a '70's....maybe worth $80 for an 18".

Those are all good cymbals, better than most of what Zildjian produces anymore....[/COLOR]

So what is the silvery coating on these?

I don't think polishing is the reason, here because that is representative of their color. Also, if you notice, the center hole is surrounded in the "normal" color. And, I know that the silver is the top coat because there is a scratch on the surface where the bronze color can be seen through. :confused:

I took a pic this morning outside with a "normal" Zildjian in the middle of them for comparison. But, both of the silvery ones have the same stamp - heavy "Z" and "Co". :confused:

By the way, I haven't even had a chance to see how they sound - I'm hoping to get to that today.

I finally got around to weighing these guys. The categories are from the cymbal weight calculator.

18" Crash - 70's (Hollow Logo on bottom) - 1401.1g (extra light)

14" 60's hi-hat - 919.6g (light)

14" Trans Stamp hi-hat - 733.4g (extremely light)

16" Trans Stamp Crash - 1601.1g (med/light)

Any other thoughts on the silvery coating?

Do the weights change the value estimates?

i dunno - the coated one looks like a Platinum series, but obviously has the wrong stamp on it... i dunno - I've seen a lot of guys polish the absolute hell out of their cymbals, and they never take a silver tone like that one did - so - it would be a very slight possibility, but this could be a Platinum prototype - thought those chances are slim... but still - I've ran accross even more weird situatuions before. SOmetimes prototypes just sorta end up in random places..

but the only thing that tells me that its not a prototppe is that the area right around the bell hole is NOT coated by about 1/2 inch... hard to say what it is really, or why it looks like that.
