Started at 9 (because my Dad was a drummer). Rebelous teenager quit the marching band at 14 to play football. Started taking lessons again at 47, joined an old guy band at 55... play together at least one night a week. Hope they bury me with a set of sticks! :)

Not a Guru... just interested..

Fourteen, after enduring a couple years of piano lessons. Drums were a lot more interesting, visually and sonically to me. Still are.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

14 and as I mentioned before ,it was to get away from the knuckle draggers at my jr high during the lunch period.

Band members got to hang out in the band room away from the random acts of senseless violence,

Don't know about you folks ,but I can honestly say I went to school with a couple of future murderers.

Nothing like sitting in home room and the state police come by to ask one of your schoolmates about a murder he may have been involved in.

Ah ,the good old school days!

Same year, same age! I learned on a 1960 Ludwig black lacquer kit. I still love the sound of those drums.

Old pharts...

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I was 14. Naturally after I realized how popular The Beatles were, I thought it would be a great way to meet girls! Playing in a band would lure them in like flies to sugar. Well, once in a while but, NOT like I'd hoped! Oh well. Learned to play and learned to love my drums!

Brian

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.
