I picked this snare up last night, it's a 1948-1952 6.5"x14" WFL Supreme Concert snare. It looked pretty rough, but came out well considering. I wanted to keep the original finish, so I tried a product called "Restor-A-Finish". It's supposed to fill in scratches and has some pigment in it as well. It worked great, and I followed it up with some paste wax. The nickel hardware was in good condition except for a little rust on the strainer and butt plate, but they cleaned up ok.
This drum came with the original slunk snare side head and snare wires, but the slunk head was broken. I left the original snare wires on for posterity, but they need to be replaced to be a good players drum. Does anyone know the value of this drum? It looks like Pioneers aren't selling for much, and these are just the WFL version. I'm wondering if these are worth more or less. I'll be selling it, since I really don't need another snare. It just seemed worthy of rescue, so I picked it up.
