The badge on my wfl 14 x 5 is loose. The hole has been enlarged by poor removal and it slops around. Is there a simple way to fix this? This drum has great sentimental value to me as it was my fathers. Could is inject in some gel superglue as one drum restorer has suggested?
WFL Badge loose
A (tiny) drop of glue to tack down the badge isn't going to hurt the drum, or its value. Just don't use super glue! If you use it on an old wrap it will create a godawful haze around the glue spot. A skosch of some carpenters glue on a toothpick will do the trick.
You know what a skosch is, right? It's just a wee bit more than a tad! :D

Thanks John. I will apply precisely one skosch.

You could also try using a grommet tool.
Easy to build:
1/4" - 20 x 2" Machine Head bolt and nut, nylon washer and large metal washer.
Place the machine head on the inside and by the badge use the nylon washer then the metal washer then nut (that order will protect the grommet and the badge.
Tighten the nut up and it should compress the grommet enough to stop the spin.
You don't need to tighten the life out of it, just enough to remove the slack.
Some people sell these types of tools on the bay for way too much money. I went to the local HD and picked up the parts. Cost me a whole $1.50 I have used this on many drums that had loose badges and others that I have rebuilt and it works like a champ. I also just used it yesterday to reapply a badge to a snare with a new 3-ply grommet. Love it !

Ball peen hammer in a vice with padding and a steel ball bearing tapped from the interior with another hammer will tighten the badge as well. Will need a helper for this method. To hold the shell and make sure the badge does not spin off center. Can get them tight but no going back.
