Well, I hate it, but here it is 22-13-16 WMP

Many of you know what has been done to this kit, and where I am at with my health. This kit is in spectacular condition, considering what they are.

Tone: deep and woody, no overtones that would be eliminated by muffling, as they have none. The bass has a HUGE range and a practically new head. As a matter of fact, all heads are "new".

Wrap: in almost excellent condition, some minor issues, like the old ciggy burn, that someone "painted" over. As for the rest, it is a standard issue, early 60s kit in great condition. No real issues. There are some places that had minor splits that I re-attached and are no longer liabilities. This kit, 22-13-16, is an amazing drum set that will make even a novice sound great. The tone is one and of itself, no other set will sound like these.

Chrome The chroming is early and very well done. Bright and shiny, in almost perfect condition. The only issues may be on the hoops, if you are a perfectionist. I have replaced the original, since I only have one of them, with new, stained and lacquered 10 ply maple. The one original will come with sale.

Shells This kit HAS BEEN MODIFIED to a degree. The original specs are 3 ply lauan, I have added another veneer of curly maple. This addition made them (A) stronger, (structurally speaking), and

(B) Added a layer of tone that you just cannot find in MIJ drums.

HEADS ARE "NEW" ALL AROUND. I DON'T PLAY MUCH SO THEY ARE RELATIVELY NEW. THEY ARE "REMO ENCORE" a single ply, coated from Taiwan that work very well on these shells. Replacement heads for these drums are Aquarian Z-100, made for these old MIJ shells, They sound better than Ambs...IMHO

I am not relishing the decision to sell, but recent events in my health and other reasons require that I sell them.

Anyone that is looking for a FANTASTIC gigging kit with all the mojo of a vintage kit and less than half the cost, this is the one. Period. I built this kit with gigging in mind and if you are tired of taking your high value Luds or Slings out to the honky tonks and worrying if they will make it through the night with no damage or being ripped off, this kit is for you.

Please email any Q to karsten_boy@yahoo.com

I will take any pix you need to make a wise buying decision.

NO SNARE is included as none came with. I do have a snare that matches, but is a later vintage. Ask for a full line price. The cymbal arm is included, as much as I hate to let it go, it is original.

My justification for this price is a full restoration. Make an offer. See if it works for you. I can get a sound file up if needed, but it may take a few days.

$400.00/offer NO SNARE or other hardware is included, but I have some other gear that could maybe be worked in. Ask, we may be able to work something out.

MUST SELL. PLEASE ADD FOR SHIPPING FROM 73071, INSURANCE STRONGLY SUGGESTED

John, I'm very sorry to hear you're selling this set. I know how much time, effort, and expertise went into the restoration of those drums.

It's a beautiful and great sounding drum set.

John, I am sad to hear this news man. I know how proud you are of this kit and all the enjoyment you have had restoring it. Major "bummer" about your health man! We have never met, but all of the help and advice that you gave me on my MIJ kit makes me feel like we have met in person. I sure hope they get your medical treatment figured out and get you fixed up. Hang in there and try to stay positive! Like the old saying goes "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" Get healed up man!! Tommy

I love this kit and wished I had the funds now for it. I'm curious what shipping would be to Smyrna, TN 37167?

I've got some things I'm tryin' to sale. Hopefully I can make somethin' happen!

Sorry, closer to 50 than 75, if my weight guesstimate is at all close, so at full asking, it would work out OK. I could do it for asking at no additional cost, and this goes for most of the lower 48.

Doesn't anyone want a stage presence kit unequaled that is giggable a and looks killer and even more importantly, they are indeed cannons to the umphh degree! Excited
