Weather & Drum Heads

Loading...

Does anyone know how much heat and humidity affect drum heads? I am moving to another house and the only room for my drums is in the attic. Do cold temps affect them ina any way too? Thanks.

That is for sure, can you explain the attic a little bit?

Drywall, insulation?, Any heating system, air conditioning in the summer? My concern would be the shells (if they are wood) and the finish (if it is a wrap) if the temp really changes drastically. (Age of the drums and the maker?)

Humidity is a problem for many things and heads will be affected depending on how much.

Cold will also affect the wood and changes in temp are what usually causes the most trouble.

Heads on the other hand can be more forgiving and tuning can make the changes in the temp and humidity. I would guess we are talking synthetic heads and not calf heads?
