Walberg and Auge or Gretsch?

Loading...

Could anyone tell me if this snare drum is Walberg and Auge or Gretsch?

At first I thought it was a Gretsch Broadkaster but now I think maybe it's a Walberg and Auge considering the lack of a badge.

I looked this over for awhile realizing that what I was looking at isn't Gretsch or W/A but this is a "Rogers Newton Daisy brand snare drum" from 1938.Rogers used the Leedy presto strainer, Gretsch lugs, tension rods and rim clips, the Leedy presto strainer was standard equipment on lower priced drums from the late 30's to the early 40's by Rogers.

V..2000 is correct (see pic). Gretsch used the Slingerland 3 Point Strainer. (BTW, on this Gretsch snare, the jaw on the butt is stamped Made in England)

I never would have guessed Rogers. Thank you. First time I've seen one.

I read elsewhere that an English copy of the Leedy Presto strainer was used on this drum. Is there any truth to that or is the strainer actually from the Leedy factory?

The NJ Rogers had a copy of the Leedy 2pt.
