It's not widely known, but I was one of Meinl's first US endorsers back in 1985. I don't have any info on the cymbals before that time, but in 1985, their main line was Profile, which included High Tech, Rock Velvet, Volcanic Rock, all B8 sheet cymbals intended to have the Paiste-like glassiness, and the Raker series (like Paiste's Rudes, they also had Sound Edge type hats.) The most desirable cymbals from that era are the Profile Dragon series, a normally-shaped dark, almost China-type available as rides, crashes and hats.

No photos available, sorry.
