Can you measure the height of the stamp from top to bottom? Looks like a large stamp to me, but I want to make sure.

That one is the most difficult one of all to identify. The reason for that is that this trademark is virtually identical to another one that they used more than 10 years later.

In fact this caused me to do some very detailed analysis using 2 of my own cymbals. I don't have tooy many old A's but I do have examples of the 2 nearly identical trademark types that I just mentioned. After studying them in detail I was able to come up with a set of unique identifying characteristics to positively tell them apart. Prior to this I had to rely on hammering as the definitive characteristic. But now with these trademark characteristics alone, I have a much more powerful tool that I didn't have before. So I can thank you for that.

This cymbal is from 1954. It's the second to the last hand hammered era. Valuation is a bit tricky. The bellhole has some obvious problems. That's one strike against it. And then there's the weight. It's heavy, so that's strike two. Not really what most jazz players would be looking for, and those are the ones who would be able to appreciate the vintage of this cymbal and pay more for it as a result. So what I would recommend that should do would be to you run it as a no reserve auction and see what the market thinks its worth.

Wow that is way older then I expected. The weight was on my bathroom scale it is a nice digital one but it may not be completely accurate. I will get a mail scale and get a better weight before I sell it. Do you have an idea of minimum value I would hate to just give it away? The key holing is a problem but I don't think it affects the sound at all. Thanks very much for all your help.

I would say don't let it go for less than $150.
