Vintage Zildjian 16" hi hats ?

Loading...

I have a HEAVY older Zildjian 16" cymbal. Could it be a bottom for 16" hi hats? Did they make 16" hi hats in 70's/80's? Or is this just a heavy crash? It has a good ping when played like a ride...

It's probably a marching band cymbal.

I'm not sure when they stopped making 16" hats.

I think the center hole will be larger in it is a marching cymbal....just something to look for. The larger center hole is for the leather straps that go around your hands so that they could be held when crashing.

....lovin' that vintage sound

I does have a solid black Zildjian logo on the bottom side, if that helps date it.

I have owned a set of Zildjian A 16 hats since about 1986...bought them from a retiring jazz player in Denver...the top is pretty light. I would guess they are early 70s vintage. Not sure of the weight.
