Thanks Pedal Pusher. I think a 14x20” will work good.

My current dilemma are the single tension rods (gold) on the bass drum. I have 3 without their handles. One missing it’s center Ludwig logo washer.

I’ve purchased two what I believe are nickel plated handles connected to only a 6” rod. I’d have to pop these off their rods (I think they’re pressed on somehow) and fasten them to the 16” gold rods. I think this would be fine for the alternative.

Your thoughts and ideas helpful, thanks in advance.

I have repaired heads similar to yours with same issues with great results

find a piece of donor calf skin { from another trashed head } cut a patch for the back leaving enough extra to wrap around hoop glue patch down using super glue it will ba a permanent bond and super fast once dried soak to edge of the hoop in water till hide is soft and retuck the water will probably not effect the painting as these were usually done in oil based paint

also send me a list of your missing rods and washers etc.. I might still have some of this stuff stored away

Thanks for the help with attaching photos, I think I have done that before so it must be old age finally setting in. I also have done the calf head patch with hide glue. It probably is drum sacrilege but I have made brass colored small parts such as washers using yellow alcohol ink to stain zinc parts.

I had deleted the posting pics info because it’s a little different now with new forum.

Thanks for the hide glue tip.. etc. I can find brass or copper washers if needed for that.

At this point I want to get it to function. I can replace to proper parts when convenient for me.

Another thing I’ve noticed was one of the handle side claws is ripped up and will probably have to put a washer between that and handle. It’s in the picture above showing it with the nickel plated handle.

On the gold T-Rods, they have a claw for the handle side and claw without a hole on the other. Several of them on the handle side are flared out. The ball shape of the handle tore into these from over tightening or just way too soft of metal. I will probably try to put a washer here to help. Pics of claws etc.. In picture two, you can see the claws in good shape. The one on the left is only a little flared.

Picture three are the other end claws and center rod supports.

What I believe are the trap table mounts that will attach to the hoop. There are only two, I’ve just positioned them differently for the two pics. I have a 2 Ludwig Jr. pedals. This one I have pictured looks minty but does not have a metal support under foot portion of pedal like my other Ludwig Jr. pedal that looks aged. The last pic shows what I believe is a hoop mounted devise for a Chinese drum but it’s missing what can support the bottom of the drum. Not certain.
